Ichthammol can be mixed with Epsom salt to aid in the drawing effect when treating a hoof. It can also be applied to a sore to help sooth and moisten. In cases of fly bites on the ears or around the tail, it is also an effective salve. Additionally, it works well to get rid of tick infestations on manes and tails.
