Russell Floyd AWCF: Source For Horse and Werkman Team Farrier

Russell lives and runs his farriery practice Prince George, BC. He graduated from the Old’s Farrier Program in 2003. After school and a summer apprenticeship shoeing carriage horses Russell had a love for the mountains, and much of his early 20’s was split between farriery and guiding horse packing trips in the wilderness of BC. Russell landed in central British Columbia in Prince George, where the need for another farrier was evident. Over the past several years Russell has avidly pursued farrier competitions and certifications. Russell achieved his CJF from the American Farriers Association in 2015, and received his Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers in 2020. He is one of three farriers in Canada to achieve the AWCF. In preparation of the associate exam he pursued the FITS examinations and has also completed his Advanced Skills Farrier. He has competed in the WCB circuit and actively competes in Western Canada. He is a current Canadian Farrier Team Member and has attended the International Farrier Competition in Stoneleigh Park UK.  Currently the CFT is gearing up for the 2023 Kentucky Horseshoeing Classic. A big win for Russ is the North 49 national season leader in 2022. He is the current President of the Western Canadian Farriers Association. Russell is also an examiner for the newly developed AFTC exams. He has been invited to be a Source for Horse Werkman team clinician.  He has an interest in anatomy and physiology of the distal limb, and contributes articles to the Anatomy Corner of the FAWS newsletter. His passion for the farrier industry is very strong, he believes in constantly learning and improving skills. Among his future goals are to again earn a spot on the CFT, and to complete the Fellowship exam with the WCF.
